Ben Allman Music
Ben Allman is an indie-folk singer-songwriter from the Isle of Wight via Liverpool, crafting intimate, atmospheric songs shaped by landscape, memory, and emotion. A multi-instrumentalist, he performs on mandolin, guitar, and cittern, blending delicate acoustic textures with spacious, modern production.
Drawing influence from artists such as Elliott Smith, Sufjan Stevens, George Boomsma, Katherine Priddy, and Paul McCartney, his music balances melodic sensitivity with lyrical depth, moving between quiet introspection and cinematic folk soundscapes.
His latest EP, Tideborn, has received airplay and critical acclaim for its evocative songwriting and immersive production. Produced by Jon Thorne (Lamb, James Yorkston), the three-track release explores themes of nature, change, and the human condition, inspired by the Isle of Wight’s landscapes and communities.
From the unease of polluted seas in Blind Eye to the sense of redemption in Landslide, Tideborn offers a compact but immersive listening experience, combining subtle guitar textures, layered harmonies, and atmospheric seascapes.
“I wanted Tideborn to reflect aspects of the island, but not in a literal sense,” says Allman. “It’s music for introspection and movement — a reminder that change is possible, environmentally, physically, and emotionally.”
With a sound rooted in contemporary folk and acoustic storytelling, Ben Allman continues to develop a distinctive voice shaped by the shifting tides of Island life.
