Vecta Music is the creative project of Ben Allman — a lecturer, folk musician, and multi-instrumentalist based on the Isle of Wight.
At its heart, Vecta is a folk hub dedicated to celebrating and supporting the Island’s vibrant music scene. Inspired by the close-knit community of songwriters, musicians, and promoters who shape it, Vecta exists to share, document, and strengthen the culture of folk music on the Isle of Wight and beyond.
Ben is deeply committed to the Island’s live music scene and passionate about supporting artists across generations. Through Vecta, he works to highlight local talent while also helping to bring some of the most exciting emerging voices from the wider UK folk circuit to Island audiences, often in collaboration with existing promoters and venues.
Vecta also serves as a platform for Ben’s own music. His indie-folk project blends introspective songwriting with atmospheric arrangements, drawing on influences from contemporary and traditional folk. His debut EP, Tideborn, is available on all major streaming platforms.
Alongside performance and media work, Vecta offers instrumental tuition for those drawn to folk music and related styles. With over twenty years of teaching experience, Ben provides both group and one-to-one lessons in mandolin, folk guitar, tenor banjo, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, and songwriting techniques.
